"Aashay is first and foremost a fast driver, but also a driver who is willing to put in the extra work off track, in order to improve his on-track performance. This attribute, along with his willingness to learn and improve, puts him in great stead for the future!"
It started with
a raffle.
Most racing careers begin with a family chequebook. This one began with a raffle.
At nine years old, Aashay wanted a kart his family hadn't planned for. He didn't ask for it — he organised. He built a raffle, sent it to family and friends, and raised R16,000 in three weeks.
He bought his own secondhand gear. Faced with that determination, his family invested in a used kart. First MSA licence at nine. First club race at Celso Scribante, Port Elizabeth.
"Before he was a racing driver, he was an operator."
